Underground tanks and monitoring equipment
USTEX evaluates underground storage tank integrity and release detection equipment for periodic compliance testing, inspection findings, and suspected leaks. Federal requirements under 40 CFR Part 280 and applicable state rules, including Wisconsin ATCP 93, establish the equipment performance and reporting obligations for the facility.
Tank tightness testing uses a method appropriate to the tank construction, stored product, and installation. Estabrook EZY 3 acoustic locator instrumentation supports tank diagnostics; monitoring equipment checks address console configuration, probes, sensors, alarm operation, and communication. Test setup accounts for product level, groundwater conditions, and the limits of the selected method.
Tank access, product levels, delivery restrictions, and any required quiet period are confirmed before the visit. Testing is sequenced with site operations; affected tanks or dispensers may need to be isolated. Continued fueling through other equipment depends on the installation and safe isolation arrangements.
The report identifies the tank or monitoring component, method, test conditions, measurements, and result. Applicable state test forms are accompanied by relevant diagnostic records and observations. Failed or incomplete items remain explicit so the operator can arrange repair, further investigation, or retesting.
